Who We Are

The Lubbock location of Aceing Autism is run by three people. Eva, Madeline, and Lahari are the three program directors in charge.

Eva is our on-court director. She is a Lubbock native who played college tennis at Kenyon College. She spent her summers coaching tennis at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels, where she discovered her love for teaching. She is often seen running the sessions and keeping everyone on track.

Madeline is our behavioral technician. On the court Madeline can be seen interacting with all of the kids to design the best environment for them. Off the court, Madeline is a certified Registered Behavior Technician working with the Burkhart Center.

Lahari is our program director. She takes care of the adminstrative work off the court, but during sessions you can find her participating with the kids similar to the other volunteers.

Together our three program directors are excited to work with the kids in our program! We love to see the progress they make and enjoy themselves while socializing with other participants and volunteers! We cannot wait to work with you and hope our kids will encourage you to come back clinic after clinic!

What We Do

Trained Program Directors and volunteers lead participants through our curriculum. At the very heart, tennis is a social game that furnishes a natural opportunity to develop and reinforce skills that many children on the spectrum find a struggle: turn-taking, focus and attending, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, and more. Our Program Directors meet athletes where they are at and progress through our curriculum at their own pace.

We offer weekly tennis clinics for children with autism between the ages of 5 and 18. Our clinics run for one hour, with sessions running for six to eight weeks at a time. Volunteers are paired up with a participant, hopefully for the duration of the session. The children in our program do not need prior tennis knowledge as our curriculum & volunteers support each child’s individual abilities and needs!
