Who We Are

Please join our User Group Here and let us know if you wish to volunteer in NW DC (spring/fall) or Wheaton, MD (winter) - or both!

What We Do

Trained Program Directors and volunteers lead participants through our curriculum. At the very heart, tennis is a social game that furnishes a natural opportunity to develop and reinforce skills that many children on the spectrum find a struggle: turn-taking, focus and attending, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, and more. Our Program Directors meet athletes where they are at and progress through our curriculum at their own pace.

Volunteer Role: We offer weekly tennis clinics for children with autism between the ages of 5 and 18. Our clinics run on weekends during the school year for two consecutive hours, with sessions running for six weeks at a time. Volunteers are paired up with a participant, hopefully for the duration of the session in order to ensure a consistent weekly experience helping children develop tennis and social skills. Volunteers are required to attend a one hour training session before working with the participants. ACEing Autism provides all of the equipment, and the program directors are on the court to assist the volunteers and participants as needed. High School students receive SSL hours for the training and for every hour on the tennis court. Tennis experience is helpful, but not required. We seek volunteers who are energetic, patient, and kind.
