What We Do
Trained Program Directors, Hannah and Amira, Assistant Director, Aidan, and community volunteers lead participants through our curriculum. At the very heart, tennis is a social game that furnishes a natural opportunity to develop and reinforce skills that many children on the spectrum find a struggle: turn-taking, focus and attending, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, and more. We meet athletes at their current level and help them progress through our curriculum at their own pace.
The Santa Barbara program provides weekly 1 hour tennis clinics for a duration of 5 weeks in the Fall and Spring. Our clinics are dedicated to children ages 5 to 18 who are on the autism spectrum. Volunteers are paired up with a participant, ideally for the duration of the session. Our program focuses on tennis fundamentals, hand-eye coordination, and socialization, so no prior tennis knowledge is required for participants or volunteers. We aim to support each child’s individual abilities and needs.
We hope to see you on the court!
