Elk Grove ACEing Autism is on a mission to have fun and introduce tennis to tennis players on the spectrum, and anyone else that may be interested. We are focused on having fun, but also working on tennis drills that promote the ability to play and to socialize with each other. This location has been running the program for 5 years; there have been a lot of success and laughs. Volunteers like you are the biggest reason we have been so successful in Elk Grove!

My name is Coach Brian. I have been teaching for 24 years in the special education department at Sac Joaquin County Office of Education and Elk Grove Unified School District. I have also coached tennis at Manteca High School, Pleasant Grove High School and Laguna Creek High School. I "played" tennis in college and high school. Spent 4 great years in the Navy as well.

Trained Program Directors and volunteers lead participants through our curriculum. At the very heart, tennis is a social game that furnishes a natural opportunity to develop and reinforce skills that many children on the spectrum find a struggle: turn-taking, focus and attending, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, and more. Our Program Directors meet athletes where they are at and progress through our curriculum at their own pace.

We offer weekly tennis clinics for children with autism between the ages of 5 and 18. Our clinics run for one hour, with sessions running for six to eight weeks at a time. Volunteers are paired up with a participant, hopefully for the duration of the session. The children in our program do not need prior tennis knowledge as our curriculum & volunteers support each child’s individual abilities and needs!
